GUI Customisation

Audience

This course addresses administrating or customisation staff working closely to the planners, thereby understanding the planning process and the potential benefits of improving this process by modifying the Carmen GUI.


Benefits

The course enables you to customise the Graphical User Interface of the Carmen System in several different ways. After completing the course you will be able to:
  • Design the rule parameter window
  • Define RUDOBs
  • Control the header colours
  • Change the information and status windows
  • Add new menu entries - and remove unwanted ones
  • Automise manual planning steps using Carmen Script Language (CSL)
  • Integrate UNIX tools like AWK, Perl, sh, grep etc.
  • Exploit the Carmen Form Handler (CFH)
  • Add and modify file managers (CFM)

Prerequisites

You need to have a basic knowledge of RAVE, as acquired at the course Basic RAVE. Likewise, basic knowledge of the report module, CRG, as acquired at the course Basic Reports is necessary.

    • Modify existing forms
    • Objects in forms
    • Picklist
    • Link to UNIX commands and CSL

  • The Carmen File Manager (CFM)
    • Modify existing CFMs
    • Add new ones
    • Link to UNIX commands and CSL

  • The Carmen Script Language (CSL)
    • Modify existing CSLs
    • Add new ones
    • Integrate with menues

    Course Material

    Copies of overhead slides, exercises with solution suggestions, and relevant manuals will be handed out at the course.

    All exercises are done using a generic flight data and rule set ("Carmen Airlines").
