Description
Six Sigma is a quality improvement and business strategy that
began in the 1980's at Motorola. Why "Sigma"? The word is a statistical
term that measures how far a given process deviates from perfection.
The central idea behind Six Sigma is that if you can measure how
many "defects" you have in a process, you can systematically figure
out how to eliminate them and get as close to "zero defects" as
possible.
The
Black Belt is a full-time corporate resource who is the project
team leader and is accountable to the key stakeholders for the
team results. As Project Team leader, you'll mobilize your team
to accomplish set goals, influence others to overcome barriers,
and coach/train members in new methodologies.
Responsibilities
Coordinating all team activities and managing progress toward
the goal; Representing the team to the organization; Assuming
accountability to the key stakeholders for team results; Serve
as a change agent in all activities. This may include presentations
beyond the project to educate the organization about Six Sigma;
and educating all levels of the organization on the use of Six
Sigma tools and their application to daily business activities.
Required
Qualifications
BS/BA; Demonstrated project leadership, facilitation skills and
customer service skills; Experience in software development &
maintenance; Solid quantitative, process and analytical skills;
Ability to learn and apply statistical tools and techniques; Demonstrated
ability to develop projects and plans based on business strategies
and customer needs; Excellent communication/presentation team
skills; and ability to work and act independently and as part
of a team.
Desired
Qualifications
MBA/MSc, Ph.D., Software Engineering, PSP or TSP, Software Process
Improvement experience; and Green Belt/Black Belt certified or
Six Sigma experience/training.
