Senior Project Manager to work with
cutting-edge software solutions

As Project Manager you will work in a team of Project Managers and Business Integration Analysts who work closely with Component Heads and the rest of Product Development (PD) to deliver effective systems and services for our Airline, Fleet and Rail verticals.

Your key responsibilities

1. Project Management

You will manage the designated project through all relevant stages of the systems lifecycle from project initiation through to project closure and review. This will include some or all of the following, as defined and agreed between PD and the Business, depending upon the nature of the project:

  • To initiate and manage the production of a Concept Definition for the proposed project, and/or to provide expert PD input to the process, co-coordinating relevant input from PD and the business to do so.
  • To work with the Business and Product Management, and others in PD to define and quantify the Business Case for the proposed project.
  • To work with the Business, Product Management, and others in PD to define the benefits that are required from the project to be undertaken.
  • To ensure that proposed solutions have been reviewed by the Architecture team for fit with overall architecture and standards.
  • To give input to the prioritization of the project within the overall programme of work for PD.
  • To develop and/or contribute to the development of the Project Initiation Documentation and to mobilize the project.
  • To ensure that a detailed project plan is developed and maintained, identifying key milestones, tasks, priorities, dependencies and responsibilities.
  • To work with the relevant functions to specify the resource requirements for each stage of the project and ensure that these can be provided from Development, Infrastructure & Verification, Testing and the Business as required.
  • To apply appropriate formal project management methods to the full systems lifecycle including stakeholder management, risk and issue management, scope control and project monitoring.
  • To identify, manage and review risks, including those associated with interdependencies between projects, and take actions to ensure that risks are managed down.

2. Process Improvement

  • To actively support and champion the PD Process evolution.
  • To identify, specify and implement enhancements to existing processes on an ongoing basis in order to continually improve.

Your profile

Essential qualifications

  • Broad business knowledge including commercial, financial and technical awareness
  • Relevant experience in a fast paced industry where PD operates as a strategic partner
  • Significant experience of delivering PD projects through others and without direct control
  • PD Project Management experience - managing delivery through all stages of the systems lifecycle (Initiation, Analysis, Design, Build and Implementation)
  • Project Management – skilled in at least one project management formal method used in PD environments
  • Planning and Control skills, using recognized Project management tools
  • Communication skills – credible with senior management, good at conflict resolution

Desirable qualifications

  • A relevant first degree or equivalent, alternatively professional qualification
  • Worked within hi tech sector
  • Demonstrable relevant experience of operating in a systems development environment, including direct experience in such a role
  • Significant project management knowledge on large scale or complex PD projects/projects - Project Management and associated methods and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of full systems lifecycle
  • People Management – particularly managing people without direct authority
