| 23 April 2003: Regional airline Widerøe buys Carmen Systems’ crew optimization software |
|||||
| Carmen Systems AB announces that the Norwegian regional airline, Widerøe, has signed a five year rental contract for the use of the crew optimization product Carmen Crew Pairing. Inge W Brorson, VP-Operations said that the initial simulation study indicated that Widerøe would receive substantial cost savings from the use of Carmen Crew Pairing. “Widerøe hopes to achieve similar success to SAS who have experienced a significant reduction in costs with the introduction of optimized crew pairings.” Gunnar K. Sveen, Manager Operation Planning at Widerøe, said, “The optimization from Carmen will also support us with exact simulations which will be useful to maintain the daily efficiency of the operation. This will also be essential when evaluating major changes such as new business opportunities or consequences from modifying the timetable." Carmen Systems President and CEO, Per Norén, said, “As a regional carrier operating mainly in Northern Norway, Widerøe works in a very challenging climatic environment with a large number of short flights placing high demands on operational stability. Widerøe is a great example of how regional airline operations can obtain significant benefits from our advanced optimization software. We are very pleased to welcome Widerøe, another member of the SAS group to Carmen.”
