| 16 October 2003: Carmen Manpower - integrated system for long-term efficiency |
|||||
Carmen Systems can now offer Carmen Manpower, a complete manpower planning solution. This is the result of a recent agreement with the company Crewlog net to acquire their Manpower system. Carmen Manpower is a fully operational planning tool that will be integrated with other Carmen modules. It is also a management instrument with a wide range of functions for scenarios and analysis. For an airline operation to maintain efficiency, reliable data on available manpower is crucial. With Carmen Manpower detailed data can be mixed with approximations depending on what is available. Real crew pairings can also be combined with approximations from the flight schedule or even from the basic fleet structure. Production figures can be loaded from Carmen Crew Pairing and the results from planned training, instructors, simulator passes and vacations in Carmen Manpower can be exported to Carmen Crew Rostering. Availability of pilots and cabin crew often depends on a wide range of long-term and short-term factors. Recruitment plans, vacation planning, transfers, standby and training all have an impact on the total crew planning efficiency. With Carmen Manpower all these factors are taken into account. Furthermore, dealing with more remote issues like schedules for instructor availability, simulators, fleet changes, retirements and days off patterns can also be considered. Erik Hasselberg, Managing Director and manpower expert at Carmen Consulting, says that Carmen Manpower completes the Carmen suite of crew planning tools. "The potential from integrating with other optimization systems, such as Carmen Crew Pairing and Carmen Crew Rostering is enormous. With Carmen Manpower it is possible to consider all crew activities in one integrated system and as a result achieve more precision in crew dimensioning and planning. The system will also make it possible to reduce crew costs by minimizing transitions and planning the training and vacations optimally," says Erik Hasselberg. |
