Because you want your processes to be integrated should not prevent you from using the best of breed applications. Carmen Connect provides a platform for controlled integration. In addition to this, Rave provides consistent legality control.

Carmen Connect
Carmen Connect is a product that provides a controlled integration process. When connecting an application to Carmen Connect, only an interface plug-in needs to be configured.

Asynchronous messaging and an intelligent message broker guarantee that messages are not lost or misplaced. You don't want your systems to 'forget' about missing crew or stranded passengers. Carmen Connect contains generic descriptions of messages or flights, passengers, cargo, aircraft, crew and similar objects.

Because messages only contain business information such as flight departure changes or passenger flow changes between flights, the system is independent of the other connected applications.

Using Carmen Connect your IT-environment can evolve to meet business needs and keep up with technical advances. Because any application can be plugged in at any time, you may always use best of breed technology.

Rave
Consistent handling of legality, quality and cost definitions in all systems is key to successful integration.

Rave is a modelling language used by all Carmen products. In the same way that Carmen Connect provides control over the data flow, Rave provides control over all legality and quality constraints. Because the modelling language is easy to learn, you have control of the rule system and can implement changes without involving Carmen.

Rave is a stand-alone product that can be used by third-party software. Rave serves as a common repository for rules, allowing you to change or add rules within hours. You also get uniform reporting of performance indicators for all stages of the planning process. This is the key to cost control.

Simultaneous optimization
Planning the operation of an airline is a huge task. Therefore, the planning is split into sub-problems representing different resource areas, such as crew and fleet. You also split the planning for various stages like pairing and rostering. This makes the problem manageable, but you also risk sub-optimization.

With Carmen optimization technology you avoid the risk of sub-optimization by letting the optimizer consider data and constraints for many resources simultaneously. This enables concurrent optimization of, for instance, critical aircraft connections together with crew pairings or pairings that fit directly into pre-planned roster patterns.
