Throughout the 19th and early 20th century, over one million Swedes emigrated from Sweden and moved to North America. Many of them were adventurers, farmers and entrepreneurs who seized the opportunity for themselves and their families to build a new future. One of the most popular places to settle down was Minnesota, where the climate, nature and people felt quite similar to home. Today it is estimated that there are as many Americans of Swedish descent as there are inhabitants in Sweden.
