Their pragmatic commitment to change fits well with Carmen's product philosophy.

in the short- and medium-haul area. Since then, the system has been succesfully
installed in the long-haul area as well. Air France has contributed significantly

Carmen
at Alitalia
Carmen
delivered Crew Pairing to Alitalia in 1994 followed by Crew Assignment
in 1998. Crew Pairing has been successfully used for a number of simulations
and cost saving initiatives throughout the years, as well as for normal
pairing production. Crew Assignment is being used for Alitalia's cockpit
crew, where a complex preferential bidding strategy is being used. Tight
cooperation between crew members, Alitalia's management and Carmen made
the Crew Assignment installation a success.

for both companies. The professionalism of BA's staff and the commitment
of its management to optimize all of its activities, provides Carmen with
significant ideas for the future. These ideas are being realised in ground-breaking
joint development project.

Thanks
to Iberia and the commitment from the operations management, the Carmen
PBS model has taken several steps forward. Iberia's advanced visions have
been a challenge to meet, and have given us many fruitful ideas for product
development. We are greatful for the cooperation we have been enjoying

Carmen
at KLM
In
November 1994 KLM made the decision to introduce and implement Carmen
Crew Pairing and Assignment. They were Carmen's first client to put Carmen
Crew Assignment into production. Since putting Carmen Crew Pairing and

Carmen
at Lufthansa
Carmen
would not be where it is today without Lothar and his colleagues at Lufthansa.
Our collaboration began in 1990. Their requirements are tough, but their
problems are well worth solving. One thing we have learned from projects
with Lufthansa, is that if we can solve their problems, we can solve the
problems of almost any other airline.

Carmen
at Mexicana
Great
enthusiasm and a pragmatic approach to problem solving have been the key
factors behind Carmen's great success at Mexicana. The major Mexican airline
took Carmen Crew Pairing into production in 1999 after a record short
implementation project. Using Carmen Crew Pairing solutions in production
at a very early stage of the implementation project, Mexicana spearheaded
the "early-benefit-approach" which is now an integral part of our implementation
model.

Carmen
at SAS
The
working relationship with SAS dates back to 1988. Much of the innovative
Carmen technology developed since then has been created in association
with SAS staff. SAS was the first airline to use graphical tools for crew
planning, and the first airline to optimize fully-dated crew trips in
a single step. Introducing Carmen's pairing optimizer in 1992, made it
possible to reduce the planning cycle from 125 to 10 days.

Carmen
at SJ (Swedish Railways)
Carmen
and SJ have been working together for 5 years. In 1995 SJ decided to
test the optimization concept of Carmen Crew Pairing. A year later,
after an extensive test and adaption period, the decision was made to
introduce and implement Carmen Crew Pairing.
In 1996 SJ became the first client to extend the scope of Carmen's optimization
expertise into Fleet Management. The Fleet product was developed in
close cooperation with SJ and has resulted in a standard product for
Fleet Assignment.
The
most recent project with SJ is the ongoing introduction of Carmen Crew
Assignment, which will improve both productivity and quality of life
for train crew.
Together
with SJ a modern integrated system for Crew and Fleet Management solutions
has been developed and is now being offered to the entire Railway industry.
